This policy explains what we collect, how it is used, and the choices you have.
THE SHORT VERSION
We collect your name and email to run your account, store the trades and screenshots you choose to upload, and measure how the product is used. Your data flows through a handful of service providers — Supabase, PostHog, Stripe, and Anthropic — each only for what it needs to do. We do not sell your personal information. You can request a copy of your data or have it deleted at any time.
Trade Catalyst is an educational trading platform operated at tradecatalyst.us. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use the platform, why we collect it, who processes it on our behalf, and the choices you have. It applies to the Trade Catalyst website, web application, and related services. By using Trade Catalyst, you agree to the practices described here.
When you create an account, we collect your full name and email address. If you subscribe, our payment processor collects your billing details (we never see or store full card numbers — see Section 5). When you use the journal and performance features, we store the trades you log and any broker or P&L screenshots you upload, along with the notes, emotional-state tags, and rule-adherence entries you choose to record. You control what you upload; you are not required to upload screenshots to use the platform.
As you use Trade Catalyst, we collect usage and product-analytics data: pages viewed, features used, clicks, session timing, approximate location derived from your IP address, and basic device and browser information. We use this to understand how the product is used, fix problems, and improve the experience. Analytics events are associated with your account using your Trade Catalyst user identifier (a random UUID) so we can understand how signed-in users move through the product. We do not attach your name or email to analytics events.
Trade Catalyst uses cookies and browser local storage to operate. Essential authentication cookies, set by our auth provider (Supabase), keep you signed in and secure your session — the platform cannot function without them. We store a small "tc-theme" value in local storage to remember your light/dark theme preference. Our analytics provider (PostHog) sets cookies and local-storage entries to recognize returning sessions and measure usage. We do not use third-party advertising cookies and we do not sell access to your browsing activity.
We rely on a small set of service providers ("processors") to run the platform, and your data passes through them for the purposes described: • Supabase — authentication, database, and encrypted storage for your account, journal entries, and uploaded screenshots. • PostHog — product analytics, as described in Sections 3 and 4. Events are keyed to your random user identifier, not your name or email. • Stripe — subscription billing and payment processing. Stripe collects and handles your payment-card details directly; Trade Catalyst never receives your full card number. • Anthropic (Claude API) — powers the AI features. When you use the AI coach or AI-assisted analysis of an uploaded P&L screenshot, the relevant content is sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response. Anthropic processes this data to return results and does not use data submitted through its API to train its models. Each provider only receives the data needed to perform its function.
We use your information to: create and secure your account; provide the signals, journaling, analytics, and AI features of the platform; process your subscription and prevent fraud; respond to support requests; understand and improve how the product is used; and send you account, billing, and (where applicable) product communications. We do not sell your personal information.
We keep your account information and the content you create (journal entries, uploaded screenshots, logged trades) for as long as your account is active. If you close your account or ask us to delete your data, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records — such as billing and transaction records — to meet legal, tax, or accounting obligations. Aggregated or de-identified analytics that can no longer be tied to you may be retained.
You can access and update your account details from your settings at any time. You may request a copy of your personal data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and associated data by contacting us at legal@tradecatalyst.us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to object to or restrict certain processing. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. You can also cancel your subscription at any time from your billing settings.
We protect your information using industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit and encryption at rest for stored financial journal data and uploaded screenshots, access controls, and authenticated routes. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Trade Catalyst is intended for adults and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Trade Catalyst is operated from the United States, and our processors may store and process data in the United States and other countries. If you access the platform from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions whose data-protection laws may differ from those in your own.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes become effective when posted to the platform, and material changes will be communicated via email to active subscribers. Continued use of Trade Catalyst after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
